A true copy and translation of a letter wrote by Aaron Kanonraron : a Mohawk chief from Niagara to his brother David residing in the lower Mohawk Village : manuscript, 1776 Nov. 11.

Manuscript translation of a letter found on a Mohawk Indian in 1776. The original letter was written on October 28, 1776, by Aaron Kanonraron, a Mohawk chief, to his brother David. Aaron entreats his brother, who "reside[s] in the midst of the Bostonians," not to side with [the Bostonians] against the King. He also informs David that the "Indians universally are firmly united with [him] on the King[']s side" and that the Governor of Canada proposes taking Ticonderoga. The letter, translated and written by Samuel Kirkland, was sent to Major General Schuyler by Colonel Samuel Elmore. The verso of the letter includes a message from Elmore to Schuyler.
